Bitcoin Wallets Analysis

Bitcoin’s on-chain metrics show a mixed picture of accumulation and distribution. Total addresses ticked up 0.02% to 1.535 billion, but a similar 0.02% rise in zero-balance addresses suggests much of this growth isn’t active capital. We’re seeing modest expansion in the smallest active wallets, with addresses holding over 0.0001 BTC climbing 0.05% to 14.02 million.

The more significant movements appear in the mid-to-larger cohorts. Addresses with over 1 BTC increased 0.04% to 822,021, indicating continued accumulation by smaller long-term holders. The 100+ BTC cohort also grew, adding 0.06% to reach 17,979 wallets. This suggests some larger entities are adding to their positions, or existing holders are consolidating.

However, not all large wallets are accumulating. Addresses holding over 10 BTC dipped 0.05% to 129,615, and the very largest, those with over 1,000 BTC, saw a 0.10% decline to 1,945. This distribution from some of the biggest wallets contrasts with the accumulation seen in smaller and mid-sized holdings, pointing to a rebalancing act across the network.

Conclusions About the Bitcoin Network

On-chain activity reveals a market in flux, with a clear divergence between different wallet sizes. While total addresses and the smallest active wallets show incremental growth, the significant action is in the mid-tier. Wallets holding over 1 BTC and 100 BTC are expanding, suggesting a steady accumulation from these groups. Conversely, some of the largest wallets, specifically those with over 10 BTC and 1,000 BTC, are seeing slight distribution. This dynamic indicates that while broader network participation is stable, larger players are re-evaluating positions, potentially taking profits as mid-sized holders step in.
